An experimental release of the open implementation of the Win32 API — Wine 10.8 has been published. Since the release of 10.7, 18 bug reports have been closed, and 231 changes have been made.
The most significant changes:
- Work continues in the DbgHelp library on a new backend for the PDB (Program Database) format.
- Performance has improved due to the relocation of user parameters to shared memory.
- Support for TIFF image format has been enhanced.
- Bug reports related to the operation of applications have been closed: Adobe Lightroom Classic 10.4, Vegas Pro 14, cmd, foobar2000, Caret.
- Bug reports related to the operation of games have been closed: Defiance, Final Fantasy XI Online, Country Siblings.
Additionally, the release of project GE-Proton 10-1 can be noted, in which enthusiasts are forming Valve-independent extended builds of the Proton package for running Windows applications, featuring a newer version of Wine, leveraging FFmpeg in FAudio, and including additional patches that resolve issues in various gaming applications. Changes in Proton GE 10-1:
- The transition to the Proton 10.0 branch, currently in beta testing, has been accomplished.
- Changes have been moved from the fresh code bases wine 10, steamclient, vkd3d-proton, dxvk-nvapi, and dxvk.
- Wine-Wayland has been enabled for operation in Wayland-based environments.
- Patches for Dualsense game controllers, support for AMD FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution), and latency reduction when using NVIDIA Reflex have been updated.
