The release of the most popular CMS WordPress 5.3 has taken place.
Version 5.3 focuses heavily on improving the Gutenberg block editor. The new features expand the editor's capabilities and provide additional layout options and styling variants. Enhanced styles resolve many accessibility issues, improve color contrasts for buttons and form fields, ensure consistency between the editor and admin interfaces, modernize the WordPress color scheme, and add improved scaling controls.
This release also introduces a new default theme — Twenty Twenty, offering greater design flexibility and integration with the block editor.
For designers, the following options are available:
- a new 'Group' block to simplify the division of the page into sections;
- fixed-width column support has been added to the 'Columns' block;
- new predefined layouts have been introduced to simplify content arrangement;
- blocks now have the ability to bind predefined styles.
Also among the changes:
- improvements to Site Health checks;
- automatic image rotation during uploads;
- fixes to the Time/Date component;
- compatibility with PHP 7.4 and removal of deprecated functions.
