The DDR4-6016 mode has conquered the system based on the Intel Core i9-9900K processor

In the field of extreme memory overclocking, the first half of the year was dominated by Intel's Coffee Lake Refresh processors, which quickly advanced memory operation limits beyond DDR4-5500, yet each subsequent step proved challenging. AMD's platform gained some ground after the release of the Ryzen 3000 processors, but the current memory overclocking record for systems based on these processors corresponds to the mode DDR4-5856 and ranks third in the HWBot standings.

This week, the Intel platform progressed even further, crossing the psychologically important threshold of DDR4-6000. As always, sponsors of the respective experiment were eager to announce the new memory overclocking record, among them the G.SKILL brand. They provided the sole Trident Z Royal Memory module with 8 GB capacity, which succeeded in reaching the mode DDR4-6016 with latency values of 31-63-63-63-2.

Notably, the record-setting enthusiast from Taiwan, known as TopPC reports that this memory module utilized chips produced by Hynix, rather than the more commonly used Samsung chips for such configurations. The voltage had to be increased to 1.7 V, and this concludes the overclocker's comments. However, it is known that the engineering sample of the Intel Core i9-9900K P0 stepping was cooled with liquid nitrogen during the experiment, installed on an MSI MPG Z390I Gaming Edge AC motherboard based on the Intel Z390 chipset. The memory module itself was also traditionally cooled with liquid nitrogen. Whether the upcoming Intel Core i9-9900KS processor, set to be released next month, will push this record further remains to be seen, as we will know no sooner than October.
