A new version of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.10 distribution has been released. This is an update of the previous branch, which will be supported alongside the RHEL 9.x branch until 2029. Installation builds are prepared for various architectures but are only available for registered users of the Red Hat Customer Portal.
RHEL 8.10 is the latest release in the 8.x branch, formed in the full support stage, which includes functional improvements. As of May 31, 2024, the 8.x branch will enter the maintenance phase, where priority will be given to bug fixes and security.
This release includes new versions of compilers and developer tools, updated server and system packages. Full support for Intel SGX isolated enclave technology has been provided. The IDXD driver has been stabilized to leverage data transfer accelerators built into Intel CPUs. Support for password hashing using the bcrypt algorithm has been added, among other improvements.
It is important to note that the source texts of RPM packages for RHEL 8 are now not publicly distributed but remain accessible to the company's clients through a closed section of the website. Source texts can be found in the CentOS Stream repository, but it is not fully synchronized with RHEL.
