John Martinson has announced the release of Robolinux 10.6, the latest update of the Ubuntu-based distribution with built-in VirtualBox for non-Linux operating systems. This release is aimed at users of Microsoft Windows 7, whose support ends next month.
As the end of life for Windows 7 approaches on January 14, 2020, Robolinux is anticipating a surge of new Linux users who wish to avoid upgrading to a new version. This mirrors what happened in April 2014 when support for XP ended. This time, Robolinux will offer screen sharing to assist new users who are hesitant to learn Linux.
To prepare for a large influx of new Linux users, the developers ensured that all five versions of the 10 series — Cinnamon, Mate 3D, Xfce, LXDE, and GNOME — are as reliable as possible, thanks to new kernels, hardware drivers, and over five hundred security updates and application upgrades.
VirtualBox has been updated to version 5.2.34.
The Brave browser has been added to ensure privacy in the free application installers.
