Analytical company RedMonk a new edition of the programming languages ranking, based on an assessment that combines popularity on GitHub with activity on discussions at Stack Overflow. Among the most notable changes is the entry of the Rust language into the top 20 most popular languages, displacing Haskell from the list. Compared to the previous edition published six months ago, C++ has moved up to fifth place, while Scala moved from 14th to 13th place. R dropped from 13th to 14th place, and Java lost one position, landing in third place (in the previous ranking, it was tied for second with Python).
