Scythe has introduced an updated version of its relatively compact tower cooling system, the Byakko. The new model is called Byakko 2, and it primarily differs from its predecessor by having a new fan and a larger radiator.
The Byakko 2 cooling system is built with three nickel-plated copper heat pipes, each with a diameter of 6 mm, which are collected in a nickel-plated copper base. An aluminum radiator is mounted on the pipes. The dimensions of this new product, including the fan, are 111.5 × 130 × 84 mm, and it weighs 415 g. Compared to the original Byakko, the radiator width has increased by almost 10 mm, and the weight has risen by 40 g.
Cooling the radiator is handled by a 92-mm Kaze Flex PWM fan. It can spin at speeds ranging from 300 to 2300 RPM (controlled via PWM), providing an airflow of up to 48.9 CFM, while its noise level does not exceed 28.83 dBA.
Interestingly, Scythe has equipped the new Byakko 2 cooling system with mounts only for Intel processor sockets LGA 775, 1366, and 115x. It is incompatible with higher-end Intel chips in LGA 20xx sockets, as well as with AMD processors. Pricing and the start date for sales of the Byakko 2 cooling system have not been specified. It is worth noting that the original Scythe Byakko is currently sold for just under 2000 rubles.
