The seventh release of the starter sets has been launched, featuring small live builds with various graphical environments on the ALT Tenth platform. The builds are based on a stable repository and are intended for experienced users. Starter sets allow users to quickly and conveniently explore new desktop environments and window managers (DE/WM). It is also possible to deploy a new system with minimal time spent on installation and customization. The proposed builds differ from distributions by offering a larger number of available options and smaller image sizes, as well as licensing terms (GPL) and a quarterly release schedule. The next scheduled update is set for March 12, 2023.
The builds are available for x86_64, i586, aarch64, and armh architectures, and are based on the Linux kernel 5.10.156 (some images feature alternative variants specified separately).
Updated versions:
- make-initrd 2.31.0;
- Chromium 107;
- Firefox ESR 102.4.0;
- KDE Plasma 5.98.0, KDE Frameworks 5.25.5, KDE Gears 22.08.1;
- MATE 1.26;
- LXQt 1.2.
The classic installer for server systems now supports installation on Btrfs. DRM kernel modules (Direct Rendering Manager) and a set of firmware have been added to the minimal JeOS builds with systemd and sysvinit. The classic installer is included in the LiveCD.
