Estonian developers of the notorious DeepNude app, which allows users to 'undress' a person using neural networks, the sale of the service and related assets. This information was reported on their official Twitter account.
Among the items for sale are a social media account, the actual codes and algorithms of DeepNude, the application, and its database, as well as the domain deepnude.com. The starting price has been set at $30,000, and the sale is being held on the Flippa platform.
The developers are looking for an investor who can realize the application's potential and ensure its professional development. The creators themselves noted that they cannot guarantee this, as the program was hacked shortly after its release. This was the reason for the sale.
Recall that the service launched earlier this year but shut down a few days later. The issue arose when the media reported on the application in June, after which it was hacked. The developers claimed that 'the world is not yet ready for DeepNude.' However, in the past month alone, about 95,000 people used the service.
It is also worth noting that several sites, including Pornhub and others, have banned the posting and use of fake videos. Modern neural networks allow for face swapping, creating 'digital twins,' and so on.
It is possible that in the near future, these technologies will enable the creation of fully animated digital copies of actors that will be hard to distinguish from real people. But this also simultaneously opens up the possibility for creating fakes.
