The distribution side-0.1.0 has been released.
Side is a GNU/Linux distribution built using the pisi package manager and system scripts written in python2 as part of the pardus project in the mid-2000s. By default, it offers a graphical user environment. SDEIt is partially based on pisilinux.
The first minor version is not associated with significant changes and is assigned solely for the convenience of further versioning.
What's new:
- Components and dependencies of calamares have been removed from the iso and repository. The system is recommended to be installed manually using CLI tools. No installation documentation is currently available.
- The generation of initramfs has been fixed during kernel updates. Dracut is used.
- New packages have been added, including: doxygen, run-mailcap-rust, cd/dvd and spellcheck toolchains.
- The radicle package has been added, and mesa has been rebuilt with libglvnd.
- Location search in the florb map viewer has been corrected.
- The incorrect fileType in the metadata of some packages has been fixed.
- Optional packages with html documentation for gtk+2 and fltk have been added.
- Address https://side.codeberg.page/ and https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ Added to the start window of lynx.
- Default Qt font settings no longer require qt6ct configuration.
- Pip, the package manager for python3 from the ensurepip module, has been added to the docker image.
- Various packages have been updated and fixed.
When upgrading from version 0.0.2, two points must be considered:
- broken initramfs;
- the file /etc/inittab is a link to /etc/inittab.example@/etc/inittab.install.
