The return conditions in the PlayStation Store are still not as lenient as those in Steam, but Sony Interactive Entertainment is moving in the right direction. You can now return any purchase in the PlayStation Store within 14 days from the transaction date, but only if you have not started the download. This applies not only to games but also to seasonal subscriptions or any other downloadable content. The rule does not apply to data that contains an 'error'—these can be returned even after downloading and playing. What exactly Sony Interactive Entertainment means by error is not disclosed.

"If you purchased consumable in-game items in the PlayStation Store, they will be provided to you at your next game launch, and until then, you may cancel the purchase within 14 days from the transaction date. If you purchased consumable in-game items while playing, they will be provided to you immediately, so you cannot cancel that purchase. Consumable in-game items include virtual in-game currency (like cash packs in FIFA or GTA), boosters, and other items whose quantity decreases during gameplay," Sony Interactive Entertainment clarified.

As for pre-orders, you can now cancel any of them before the game's release date. And even if the release has occurred, you can request a refund within 14 days from the date the funds were transferred for the pre-order, as long as you have not started downloading the project or streaming it.

Interesting new developments also concern subscriptions. "You can cancel the purchase of a subscription to services and request a refund to your PSN wallet within 14 days from the date of the transaction when making a purchase, even if you have already started using the subscription. When the refund is processed, the cost of the subscription for the period during which you used these services will be deducted. In your account's transaction history, this may appear as two transactions: a full refund of the amount you paid into the wallet, followed by a deduction for the period during which you used the subscription services," the rules state. However, if you used the free period before purchasing the subscription, the 14 days will be counted from the start of the trial period, not from the payment.

Finally, an important point in the rules is the mention of changing the online identifier. Although this feature is still not available, its appearance is clearly approaching. "You cannot cancel or obtain a refund for the payment of changing your online identifier," the rules state.
