Salvatore will remain on the advisory board of Redis Labs, but will limit himself to generating ideas. The development and maintenance will be handed over to the community. The project lead position has been passed to Yossi Gottlieb and Oran Agra, who assisted Salvatore in recent years, understand his vision for the project, care about preserving the spirit of the Redis community, and are well-versed in the code and internal workings of Redis. The goal is to make the project open and friendly for community members, making it easier for them to take a more active and significant role in development.

Currently, the Core Team consists of three developers from Redis Labs — Yossi Gottlieb and Oran Agra, who hold the positions of project leads, and Itamar Haber, who serves as the community lead. In the near future, several community members will be elected to the Core Team based on their contributions to the project's development. For making significant decisions, such as fundamental changes to the Redis core, adding new data structures, altering the serialization protocol, and changes that break compatibility, achieving consensus among all Core Team members is preferred.
As the community grows, new needs for functionality expansion may arise for Redis, but new leaders assert their commitment to maintaining foundational attributes of the project, such as a focus on efficiency and speed, a pursuit of simplicity, the principle of 'less is more', and making the right default choices.
