On January 12, 2026, the new version SpiderBasic 3.20 was released.
The program is designed for creating applications for Android. The syntax is similar to BASIC. The compiler converts the code to JavaScript, which runs inside a Cordova container that in turn accesses the functions of the current system.
To install, you will need to install the npm, curl, openjdk-21-jre, openjdk-21-jdk packages, and separately gradle-8.13, and execute the install-cordova.sh script. To sign APK applications, install the apksigner package.
Features:
- a modern interface has been added in the Mobile library in the new versions;
- Sprites can be used to create 2D games;
- with Canvas, you can draw any interface;
- there are also many other libraries for 2D drawing, vector drawing, mathematical functions, lists, arrays, maps, regular expressions, packers, encryption, geolocation, touch screen, etc.;
- the syntax is similar to PureBasic, so the code is portable between SpiderBasic and PureBasic with minor modifications.
