Team Meat Studio promised to release the sequel to Super Meat Boy in April, but they will not be able to complete the project on time. The developers announced the delay on their Twitter.
"We have been working on the final improvements for Super Meat Boy Forever at a record pace while maintaining our health and sanity. We will continue to work at this pace, so we won’t finish everything by April. We apologize. We could sacrifice our minds and lives, but that would be a foolish decision," the creators admitted.
The announcement of Super Meat Boy Forever took place in 2014 when the project was just a mobile version of Super Meat Boy. Over time, the scope expanded, and the game has turned into a full-fledged sequel, which will be released on both mobile devices and PC with consoles. It will feature procedurally generated levels that adapt to the skills and abilities of the player.
The developers understand how much the audience dislikes delays, but they are glad that they can afford it. "The Team Meat team does not work for some evil corporation that gives us orders and forces us to do things. We are happy to have full control over the situation and can protect ourselves from burnout," the creators add. According to them, the wait won’t be too long — the release will take place "shortly after the end of April."
