On March 6, 2025, the Tails project announced the release of a new version of its privacy-focused Linux distribution — Tails 6.13.
In this new release, the detection of Wi-Fi hardware issues has been improved. Now, if Tails does not detect wireless hardware, users will see a clear warning: 'Wi-Fi hardware not detected.' This enhancement will help users more quickly identify and resolve compatibility problems.
Other significant changes:
- Markup error detection. The operating system now detects markup issues even during the first boot of Tails. This fix prevents crashes when creating a new persistent storage on a fresh Tails USB drive.
- Buttons for installing additional software. Previously, users encountered non-functional buttons for 'Configure' and 'Show Log' when installing additional software. In Tails 6.13, these issues have been resolved, and users receive clear notifications such as 'Your additional software installation failed,' allowing them to easily take necessary actions.
- Tor Browser has been updated to version 14.0.7.
- Tor client has been updated to version 0.4.8.14.
