Telegram has received a major update with AI—bots can now be summoned to any chat along with other innovations.

Telegram has received a major update, almost entirely dedicated to AI and automation. The messenger now features a guest mode for bots, the ability for bots to communicate with each other, chat automation tools, and a search for over 100 million emojis and stickers. Additionally, Telegram has updated polls and moderation tools.

Telegram has received a major update with AI—bots can now be summoned to any chat along with other innovations.

The main innovation is the so-called guest mode for bots. Now AI bots can be invoked directly in any personal or group chats — simply mention them using @username in the message. After that, the bot will be able to respond in the same chat: for instance, find information, generate text or images, verify information, or perform other tasks. Telegram emphasizes that such bots only gain access to the messages in which they are mentioned and do not see the rest of the conversation.

Another important change concerns the interaction between the bots themselves. Now Telegram allows bots to respond to other bots, opening the door for the creation of entire chains of autonomous AI agents and the automation of workflows. For example, one bot can gather data, a second can analyze it, and a third can publish the results in the chat, all without human involvement.

Developers have also improved how responses from bots are displayed. Messages can now be shown gradually, as text is generated — similar to how it is implemented in modern AI chats. Telegram notes that thanks to the updates to the Bot API, responses have become faster and feature new animations.

Telegram has also introduced a chat automation feature. Users can connect a bot to their profile and allow it to respond to messages on their behalf. The access the bot receives can be flexibly configured — for example, only to new conversations or to chats with unfamiliar users. The settings are located in the 'Chat Automation' section.

Telegram has also expanded the capabilities of its built-in AI text editor. Now users can create their own styles for the AI message editor by setting a set of instructions for formatting text. These styles can be saved and shared via a link. The company believes this feature will be useful for communities with local memes as well as teams that need to maintain a consistent publication style.

Another notable innovation is the expanded search for emojis and stickers. Telegram claims that users now have access to over 100 million stickers and emojis created by the community. The search works in 36 languages, and AI models based on the Cocoon network are used for automatic tagging and indexing of images.

The update also impacted the polling system. Group and channel administrators now have access to interactive voting statistics with charts showing changes in votes over time. However, this feature only works for polls that have received more than 100 votes. Additionally, it is now possible to restrict participation in polls — for example, allowing only channel subscribers or users from specific countries to vote.

Among the less significant changes is the ability to send delayed messages without sound notifications and new moderation tools. Group administrators can now delete reactions from individual users, and if necessary, all reactions from a specific participant at once.

In addition to new features, Telegram reported over 200 fixes and minor improvements across all versions of the app.
