Phoronix conducted a series of performance tests for environments based on Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 21.10, and Ubuntu 20.04 in the Windows 11 preview release WSL2 environment 22454.1000. The total number of tests was 130, and the environment with Ubuntu 20.04 in Windows 11 WSL2 achieved 94% of the performance of Ubuntu 20.04 running without layers on bare metal hardware in the same configuration.
