Hello everyone! Today I wanted to tell you about my new project – an online assistant for correcting errors in English texts. . This service is for those who use English in communications or want to improve their writing skills.
How it works: browser extensions
We have created browser extensions and . Once such an extension is installed, the system starts checking the text you type on numerous sites – from email services like Gmail to blogging platforms like Medium and social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
The algorithm searches for typos (there are 9 million in the database), punctuation errors, grammar mistakes, and stylistic inaccuracies in real-time. For each error found, the assistant suggests correction options.
If there’s a word the system doesn’t recognize, but you are confident in its correctness – you can add it to your personal dictionary, and Textly.AI will no longer underline it. An important point – the extensions can be used for free and even without registration, meaning completely anonymously.
What else: a web application with extended capabilities
In addition to browser extensions, we also have a more functional web application. In it, users can create multiple documents and easily switch between them.
Everything works simply: copy or start typing directly in the editor – the system will begin searching for typos, punctuation, grammar, and stylistic errors.
The sets of errors will differ for various English variants: Textly.AI supports not only British and American English but also, for example, Canadian and Australian variations.
In learning written English, it’s important to understand how different variants of the language differ – British, American, Australian, or Canadian. The built-in readability checker for the resulting materials will also be useful: the learner will gradually come to understand which words add unnecessary complexity to the text.
In addition to features found in many similar services, Textly.AI also has some that are less common. One of the most important is the special Pastebin mode in the program, which works similarly to secret chats in messengers: all materials created in this mode undergo error checking, and once the window is closed, they are completely erased.
Who can benefit from the product
The service will be useful for those who need to communicate in writing in English (from writing business emails to filling out profiles on Tinder), as well as for those who are learning the language or teaching it. We also expect that Textly will be used not only by the students themselves but also, for example, by their parents: by purchasing access for their child, they will be able to see how many mistakes the child makes in texts and monitor their progress (useful information if you are paying for additional lessons, for instance).
