The Linux Foundation has announced a partnership with TransTech Social Enterprises, an incubator for LGBTQ talent specializing in the economic empowerment of transgender individuals. The partnership will offer scholarships to promising students to provide them with greater opportunities to start working with open source software.
In its current form, the partnership provides 50 scholarships per quarter to those who meet the application criteria. Linux Foundation Training & Certification, for its part, offers a voucher for registration in any Linux Foundation eLearning course or exam, such as Linux Foundation Certified IT Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Open.js Node.js Certified Application Developer, and many others. Clyde Sievers, SVP & GM of the Training and Certification Division, believes that the scholarship will lower the entry barrier and help hundreds of people launch an open source career, as well as inspire more members of the LGBTQ community to choose the IT sector as a field for self-fulfillment.
