The Xiaomi Mi Box S television Android box was introduced in the fourth quarter of 2018. The device features an updated design and a new remote, although the internal components remain the same as its predecessor. Now, Xiaomi has updated the box, which was originally released with Android 8.1 TV to Android 9 Pie.
The update size is just over 600 MB and includes numerous bug fixes present in the previous software version. The new firmware resolves the error that could prevent the Chromecast feature from functioning, eliminates freezing during content playback in some applications, fixes H.264 decoding issues, and addresses audio and video synchronization issues when audio is played on Bluetooth devices. Additionally, there is a fix for HDMI compatibility, along with many other bugs from earlier software versions.
Unfortunately, the firmware cannot be installed on the original Xiaomi Mi Box, despite both devices sharing the same hardware platform.
