On September 10, the release of version 16.0 of the character encoding standard took place. Unicode.
This version adds 5185 new characters, including:
- 3995 additional Egyptian hieroglyphic characters;
- seven new scripts (Tulu, Albanian Todri, Garay (Senegal), Sunwar Genticha, Gurung, Kirat, and Olonal);
- seven new emoji characters;
- more than 700 characters related to obsolete computing technology.
Currently, the standard contains 154,998 characters, 168 scripts, and 3,790 emojis.
