LanguageTool is a free grammar, style, punctuation, and spelling checking system with open source. The core of LanguageTool can be used as an extension for LibreOffice/Apache OpenOffice and as a Java application. In the new version 4.5:
- The checking modules for Russian, English, Ukrainian, Catalan, Dutch, German, Galician, and Portuguese languages have been updated.
- The syntax of built-in rules has been expanded.
Changes in the Russian language module:
- Existing rules for checking punctuation and grammar have been expanded and improved.
- The capabilities of contextual analysis have been enhanced.
- Variants of spelling words with a missing letter 'Ð' have been added to the parts of speech dictionary.
- New words have been added to the spelling dictionary of the standalone version.
In the version 4.5.1, released specifically for LibreOffice/Apache OpenOffice, a bug has been fixed that caused the rules for the current text language not to be displayed in the LanguageTool settings dialog.
Additionally, the service infrastructure has been updated, and the main site has moved to a new server.
When using LanguageTool with LibreOffice 6.2 and newer , you can choose a separate color for underlining errors for each category of rules.
