The developers of the AlmaLinux project, which maintains the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) distribution, have announced the addition of RISC-V (RV64GC) architecture support in the AlmaLinux Kitten 10 distribution. AlmaLinux Kitten 10 is based on the CentOS Stream 10 package base, developed using a continuous package update model, and serves as the upstream for the AlmaLinux 10 branch. AlmaLinux Kitten 10 builds for RISC-V are available in the form of official Docker images and standard virtual machine images. System images for StarFive VisionFive 2 (JH7110) and SiFive HiFive Premier P550 (ESWIN EIC7700) boards are expected to be published soon.
