Google Chrome is set to undergo a significant design change. Reportedly, Chrome Canary 75 has seen two major updates to its appearance. This includes support for a dark theme on the homepage and the ability to set wallpapers.
At the current moment, the latest builds of Chrome 73 only feature instructions for new users on the homepage. Extensions can add Speed Dial and other functionalities, but that's all for now. The introduction of new features on the homepage is expected in the release version number 75.
So far, it's unclear what other innovations will be available in this build. Previously, it was reported that Google would include an anti-tracking system in this version. Chrome for desktop operating systems will incorporate a system that warns users if any website tries to access the tablet's sensors. A whitelist feature for certain sites is also promised. A similar version for Android will be able to completely block all websites, with no option to create a list of allowed resources.
In Chrome 74, there is a promise of changing the appearance based on the theme of the operating system. Currently, this pertains to Windows 10, which is expected to receive full dark and light themes after the April update. The browser will automatically support the theme switching. The beta version is already available, with the release scheduled for April 23.
It’s noteworthy that more browsers and other programs are experimenting with adaptive themes and dark mode. This trend is observed on both computers and smartphones.
