The developers of the Asahi project, aimed at porting Linux to run on Mac computers equipped with ARM chips created by Apple, have released the July update of the distribution, allowing anyone interested to explore the current state of the project. Among the most notable improvements in this release is the implementation of Bluetooth support, availability for Mac Studio devices, and initial support for the new Apple M2 chip.
Asahi Linux is based on the Arch Linux package base, includes a traditional set of applications, and comes with the KDE Plasma desktop. The distribution is built using the standard Arch Linux repositories, with all specific changes, such as the kernel, installer, bootloader, helper scripts, and environment settings, placed in a separate repository.
