In Fedora Linux 37, the ARMv7 architecture, also known as ARM32 or armhfp, is set to be categorized as obsolete. All development efforts for ARM systems are expected to focus on the ARM64 (Aarch64) architecture. This change has not yet been considered by the FESCo (Fedora Engineering Steering Committee), which is responsible for the technical aspects of Fedora distribution development. If approved, the last release to support 32-bit ARM systems will be Fedora 36, with updates available until June 2023.
The reasons cited for discontinuing support for ARMv7 include the general reduction in development for 32-bit systems, as some new Fedora features related to enhanced security and performance are only available for 64-bit architectures. Until now, ARMv7 remained the last fully supported 32-bit architecture in Fedora (repository formation for the i686 architecture was halted in 2019, leaving only multi-lib repositories for x86_64 environments).
