Mozilla has announced the default inclusion of Total Cookie Protection for all users. Previously, this mode was activated only when sites were accessed in private browsing mode and when selecting strict blocking of unwanted content.
The proposed protection method involves using a separate isolated storage for cookies for each site, which prevents cookies from being used to track movements between sites. This is because all cookies set by third-party blocks (such as iframes, JavaScript, etc.) are tied to the site from which these blocks were loaded and are not transferred when accessing these blocks from other sites.
As an exception, the ability for cross-site cookie sharing has been retained for services not related to user tracking, such as those used for single authentication. Information about blocked and allowed cross-site cookies is displayed in the menu shown when clicking on the shield icon in the address bar.
