In the nightly builds of Firefox, which form the basis for branch 110, scheduled for release on February 14, the ability to display the entered search query in the address bar instead of showing the search engine's URL has been activated. This means that keywords will be shown in the address bar not only during input but also after querying the search engine and displaying related search results for the entered keywords. This change applies only when accessing the default search engine from the address bar.
To disable the new behavior and revert to displaying the full address, a special option has been implemented in the settings under the Search section. Information about the possibility to disable this feature is also provided in a special tooltip that appears during the first use of search from the address bar. To manage this mode, the setting 'browser.urlbar.showSearchTerms.featureGate' is available in about:config, which can also enable the mode in Firefox 109 branch.
Additionally, there is a corrective release of Firefox 108.0.1, which fixes a bug that resets the default search engine settings after configuration updates with profiles previously copied from other locations.
Moreover, a new version of the Tor Browser 12.0.1 has been released, focused on providing anonymity, security, and privacy. This release includes vulnerability fixes from the Firefox ESR 102.6 branch and addresses a regressive change in the implementation of the leak protection mechanism when using the drag & drop interface (dragging the URL from the address bar is disabled to avoid leaking data about the open site through a DNS request after dragging into another application). Additionally, besides blocking URL dragging, functionalities like mouse bookmark reordering were also broken. A bug that caused the environment variable TOR_SOCKS_IPC_PATH to be ignored has also been fixed.
