Red Hat has announced the appointment of a new president and CEO. Matt Hicks has been named the new head of the company, having previously served as Red Hat's Vice President of Products and Technologies. Matt joined Red Hat in 2006 and began his career with the development team, working on porting code from Perl to Java. Later, Matt led the development related to hybrid cloud technologies and became one of the leaders of the Red Hat OpenShift project.
Paul Cormier, the former president of Red Hat who led the company after Jim Whitehurst, has been moved to the position of Chairman of the Board of Red Hat. Matt Hicks and Paul Cormier will report to Arvind Krishna, the CEO of IBM, which acquired Red Hat in 2019 but provided it with independence and the ability to operate as a separate business unit.
