Microsoft is working on a new global media control for its Chromium-based Edge browser. Reportedly, the control, activated by clicking the 'Media' button in the address bar, not just the list of audio or video files currently playing, but also other active media sessions which can then be switched and managed individually.

So far, this is an experimental feature that is still in the commit stage, and it's unclear whether it will make it to release. However, the function looks promising as it will provide more flexible playback control.
The video below shows how it works. It must be noted that the idea could be interesting.

Recall that in the latest Windows 10 build for Fast Ring insiders, code was found indicating the possible appearance of the new Microsoft Edge in 'ten'. This concerns It is expected that in this version, Chromium-based Microsoft Edge will become the default browser in the operating system from Redmond. However, the question remains whether it will be integrated into the system as tightly as the current version of the web browser, or if Microsoft will consider the mistakes.
It is expected that the new feature will be showcased in April or May 2020, although no exact dates are available yet, and the company already has experience in last-minute delays. Besides 'ten', the new Microsoft Edge is available on macOS, Windows 7, and Windows 8.1, but only on the Dev and Canary channels for now. The beta version is still to come. As for Linux, there is currently no information, though its appearance would be a logical step.
