Claudio Jeker (Claudio Jeker (claudio@)) has added the mwx driver for wireless cards based on Mediatek MT7921 and MT7922 chips to the OpenBSD kernel (supports the 802.11ax standard). Currently, the driver is still in development and not suitable for use in production systems. For example, network scanning and packet reception (scan + rx) work fine, but packet transmission (tx) temporarily does not work. The development uses the MT7921 chip. Additionally, support for the MT7922 chip is declared, but the developer does not yet have the required hardware for testing.
A few days ago, the qwx driver for Qualcomm IEEE 802.11ax wireless chips was also added to OpenBSD-current, developed by porting the ath11k driver from the Linux kernel. The driver currently only supports operation in 11a/b/g modes. The driver's functionality has been verified on Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 4, Lenovo T14s Ryzen Pro 7, and Thinkpad P 16s Gen.1 laptops.
