Developers at Firaxis Games and publisher 2K Games have announced that the global turn-based strategy game Sid Meier’s Civilization VI now supports cross-platform saves between PC and Nintendo Switch.

If you purchased the game on Steam and on Nintendo Switch, you can now freely transfer saves between the two platforms. To do this, you will need to create a 2K account, link it to both platforms, and then enable cloud saving in the settings. After that, all your progress will be synchronized with proxy server. Unfortunately, there is one downside related to the Switch version.

The thing is, currently only the original game is available on the console, without the expansions Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm. If you are playing on PC with these expansions, you will not be able to transfer your save files. The developers remind you that all DLCs will also arrive on Nintendo Switch, after which cloud saves will be fully compatible. But for now, you need to check if your versions match.

Remember, Civilization VI was released on PC on October 21, 2016, and the game reached the Nintendo console on November 16 of last year.
