The Audi e-tron, the first fully electric vehicle from the German company, received a high safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) following crash tests.
Currently, Euro NCAP is the primary organization that evaluates vehicle safety based on independent crash tests. The safety rating for the Audi e-tron electric vehicle turned out to be very positive. The safety for drivers and adult passengers was rated at 91%, for children at 85%, for pedestrians at 71%, and the electronic safety system received a score of 76%. Thanks to these results, the vehicle was awarded a five-star safety rating.
The car's cabin remained stable during the frontal offset test. Measurements taken by specialized sensors indicate that the knees and thighs of both the driver and passengers receive good protection in the event of a collision. Passengers of different heights and weights sitting in various positions are provided with adequate protection. In a frontal collision, all critical body parts of both passengers received good protection. Experts noted the effective performance of the autonomous braking system, which proved reliable in tests at lower speeds.
A weak level of protection for the driver's chest was identified during a collision with a post. The system for controlling maximum speed was also noted to have insufficient effectiveness.
Notably, the deliveries of the Audi e-tron in the European region began earlier this year. This month, the first electric vehicles from the German automaker have arrived in the American market.
