At the beginning of the QuakeCon festival, Bethesda Softworks, along with developers from Avalanche and id Software, presented a new trailer for the open-world shooter. . In it, the authors talked about the second major update for their project, which was released on July 25 and brought a wealth of free improvements in the form of new game modes, an additional difficulty level, and a lot of other content.
For example, the 'New Game +' mode will allow players to replay the campaign with all their abilities, weapons, and vehicles already at hand—each new run grants players prestige badges. The 'Iron Man' mode will challenge those who find the game too easy. Here, when the character dies, the story ends, although as a last resort, players can still use a defibrillator. Finally, there's the 'Ultra Nightmare' difficulty mode, which raises the insanity level to a whole new level.
The developers also included new cheat codes. For example, using the 'Doll Blitz' cheat will make players lose control of their character, who will turn into a real rag doll and fly towards crazed enemies. The 'Super Knockback' cheat will send enemies straight into space with a melee attack.
Among other pleasant changes are listed:
- the game no longer pauses due to pop-up messages;
- a dead zone slider for the controller has been added in the settings;
- a flashlight has been added for exploring dark places—pressing and holding the 'Focus' button will turn it on;
- players can now skip Aunt Prowley's dialogue in the introductory quest;
- the option to disable tutorials in Arks has been added;
- project trackers show progress in the interface;
- options to disable damage and kill notification on targeting have been added;
- players will now gain access to the commentators 'And this is what you call a wingstick?' and 'Telemadness' immediately after linking their Bethesda.net account. Previously, purchasing the voiceover from the Wasteland Mage was required.
A lot of bugs have also been fixed. Rage 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The standard edition is now priced at ₽999 thanks to a 50% discount — it's worth mentioning that this game has received a fairly low rating on this platform (only 56% positive feedback from over 5600 ratings).
