OWC has introduced the Mercury Elite Pro Dual with 3-Port Hub external data storage, which can be used with computers running Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Linux, and Chrome OS.
The device allows for the installation of two drives in 3.5 or 2.5-inch format. These can be traditional hard drives or solid-state solutions with a SATA 3.0 interface.
The new product is built using Asmedia ASM-1352R and Genesys Logic GL-3590 controllers. RAID arrays of RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD can be formed.
For connection to a computer, it uses a USB Type-C interface with a bandwidth of up to 10 Gbps. Additionally, as reflected in the name, it includes a USB hub with three ports: one USB Type-C port and two USB Type-A ports. Thus, portable drives and other peripherals can be connected to the storage.
The new product is available in configurations based on hard drives with a total capacity ranging from 2 to 32 TB at prices from $250 to $1200. Versions with solid-state drives ranging from 1 to 8 TB cost between $350 and $1950. For $150, you can purchase the Mercury Elite Pro Dual with 3-Port Hub without installed drives.
