Oracle has begun testing the second beta version of the Virtualization system VirtualBox 7.1. The release is anticipated in the fall. Builds with the beta version of VirtualBox 7.1 have been prepared for RHEL 7/8/9, Fedora 35/36/40, openSUSE 15.3, Ubuntu 20.04/22.04/24.04, Debian 10/11/12, macOS, and Windows.
Key changes compared to the first beta version:
- The shared clipboard mode has introduced initial support for file transfer via the clipboard on Linux and Windows platforms.
- The screen recording feature has seen a significant boost in video encoding performance.
- Fixes have been made to resolve issues when using FreeBSD 12.3 and pfSense 2.6.0.
- The unattended installation mode has added support for installers based on subiquity and cloud-init, as well as the ability to specify separate passwords for the created user and administrator accounts.
