The release of the Alt Server 10.1 distribution has taken place, built on the ALT 10 platform (p10 Aronia branch). The distribution is provided under a License Agreement that allows individuals to use it freely; however, legal entities are only permitted to conduct testing, and a commercial license must be purchased or a licensing agreement executed in writing for use. Installation images are prepared for x86_64, AArch64, and "Elbrus" architectures.
New features and tools:
- Added the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia certificate (ca-certificates-digital.gov.ru 1.0).
- Attention has been given to support for Microsoft AD and Group Policy Objects. The 'Alt Server' OS is used in an alternative solution by 'Bazalt SPO' for implementing Active Directory domain infrastructure under Linux. The Samba DC domain controller 4.16 has been updated, along with Group Policy management tools — gpupdate 0.9.12.2, admc 0.11.2, gpui 0.2.17. An admx-msi-setup package has been added for downloading Microsoft Group Policy admx templates.
- A text mode for the GRUB bootloader has been added. It is now easier to install the system on a server without a graphics card thanks to a separate option in the bootloader menu.
- During system installation, the option to create partitions with NTFS has been provided.
- The use of Cyrillic characters in user names or passwords is now allowed; the switching and placement of the keyboard layout indicator (greeter) has been improved.
- Added virt-manager 3.2 for creating of virtual machines, remote connection server tigervnc 1.10, and monitoring system Zabbix 6.0.
- A system administrator tool Epm (eepm-yum) has been added.
- Instead of wine-vanilla packages, Wine 7.22 builds for 'Alt' distributions are utilized.
- Added sssd-ldap 2.8.
Improvements and changes:
- The distribution includes packages of current versions for the system environment based on Linux kernel 5.10. Kernel 5.15 has been added. PHP 7 has been replaced with PHP 8. The distribution includes PostgreSQL 14 packages with and without 1C patches.
- The image has been supplemented with packages containing modules for the corresponding kernels, so it does not depend on the network repository when installing additional drivers. When booting the installer in Legacy mode, grub-pc 2.06 is used. Thus, GRUB is used in both Legacy and UEFI modes.
- Functionality similar to alt-p10-builder is achieved by selecting the 'Package Builder' option in the installer — the builder-useradd 1.5 package will be installed in the image.
- Corrections have been made to speed up the installation process in the minimal profile. The menu item 'Token Support' (isbc-pkcs11 4.9, opensc, pcsc-tools, openssl, pam_pkcs11) has been added to the 'Server Applications' group in the installer. The 'Mediawiki' and 'ALT Domain Server (ldap kerberos)' installer items have been removed.
- Multipath (0.9) is configured by default to work similarly to the Virtualization Server. The connection broker and tunnel for creating and managing virtual workspaces in OpenUDS 3.5.0 have been updated.
- The creation of a SWAP partition is provided by default. The image supports the creation of a Btrfs partition (btrfs-progs 5.19) during installation.
- The AArch64 image includes the xor-neon kernel module, allowing the system to be installed on RAID4/5/6 for increased fault tolerance and performance.
- In AArch64, the web browser Chromium 107.0 has been chosen for Internet access. Jitsi Meet is not compatible with AArch64.
- pkcs11_eventmgr servers HAProxy version haproxy 2.6 and keepalived 2.2 have been installed.
- The MATE desktop environment has been updated to version 1.26, and LibreOffice has been updated to version 7.4.
- For scanner detection (Samsung ProXpress M3870FD, Pantum M7100DN, Oki MB472, Kyocera ECOSYS-M2040dn, Brother MFC L2720DW), sane-airscan has been installed.
