After a year of development, the release of the BackBox Linux 8.1 distribution, based on Ubuntu 22.04, has been published. It comes with a collection of tools for system security testing, exploit testing, reverse engineering, network traffic analysis, wireless networks, malware research, stress testing, and recovery of hidden or lost data. The user environment is based on Xfce. The size of the ISO image is 4.2 GB (x86_64). This new version features updates to the Xfce environment and the Linux kernel (5.15), delivers new versions of security testing tools, and includes an ISO image built in a hybrid format adapted for booting on UEFI systems.
