On June 1, Devuan 3 Beowulf was released, which corresponds to Debian 10 Buster.
Devuan is a fork of Debian GNU/Linux without systemd, designed to "give users control over their system by avoiding unnecessary complexity and ensuring freedom of choice in initialization systems."
Main features:
- Based on Debian Buster (10.4) and Linux kernel 4.19.
- Support for ppc64el has been added (i386, amd64, armel, armhf, arm64 are also supported)
- runit can be used instead of /sbin/init
- openrc can be used instead of the System-V sysv-rc runlevel mechanism
- eudev and elogind have been moved to separate daemons
- New wallpapers and designs for the bootloader, display manager, and desktop.
Preparation for the next release, Devuan 4.0 Chimaera, has also begun, with repositories for the future version already open.
