The release of 4MLinux 42.0 is presented, a minimalist user distribution that is not a derivative of other projects and utilizes a graphical environment based on JWM. 4MLinux can be used not only as a Live environment for playing multimedia files and solving user tasks but also as a system for recovery from failures and a platform for running LAMP servers (Linux, Apache, MariaDB, and PHP). Two ISO images (1.2 GB, x86_64) are prepared for download, one with the graphical environment and a selection of programs for server systems.

- The additional packages available for download include the graphics editor Krita and the game Hex-a-Hop.
- Support for various image, video, and audio formats has been improved.
- The base package includes multimedia players AlsaPlayer, Baka MPlayer, GNOME MPlayer, GNOME MPV, and mp3blaster. XMMS is set as the default multimedia player.
