The release of the lightweight Linux distribution ArchBang 010726 has been announced, based on Arch Linux and providing a user interface based on the composite manager MangoWM. The distribution offers a continuous update cycle, allowing users to always work with the latest versions of software from the Arch Linux repositories. The size of the ISO image is 1.4 GB.
In the new version, there has been a transition to using the lightweight composite manager MangoWM by default (previously Labwc was included, and before that Openbox), which provides functionality similar to the DWM window manager, implemented using the Wayland protocol. MangoWM is notable for using tags to group windows instead of virtual desktops and focusing on maximum stability and practicality (new features are added only when they truly enhance everyday work). In addition to migrating to MangoWM, the new release optionally offers the graphical installer abi-install, an alternative to the console installer and implemented in the form of a web interface in Firefox based on Cockpit.
