The distribution is based on Debian GNU/Linux and utilizes code from projects such as DRBL, Partition Image, ntfsclone, partclone, and udpcast. Booting from CD/DVD, USB Flash, and over the network (PXE) is possible. LVM2 and file systems ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, btrfs, f2fs, nilfs2, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, HFS+, UFS, minix, VMFS3, and VMFS5 (VMware ESX) are supported. A mass cloning mode over the network is available, including traffic transmission in multicast mode, allowing simultaneous cloning of the source disk to a large number of client machines. Cloning from one disk to another, as well as creating backups via saving a disk image to a file, is possible. Cloning can occur at the level of entire disks or individual partitions.
In the new version:
- Synchronization with the Debian Sid package repository as of April 28 has been completed;
- Linux kernel has been updated to release 5.5.17;
- Support for the 'last-lba:...' line for GPT partition tables has been added, allowing, for example, the cloning of a 64 GB disk with a 20 GB partition to another disk of 20 GB size;
- The pax archiver and scdaemon package have been included. The pxz package has been replaced with pixz;
- A batch mode has been added, which differs from countdown mode by pausing at rc levels other than 0, to invoke ocs-run-boot-param;
- The ocs-live-swap-kernel program has been added for replacing the kernel and modules in Clonezilla Live;
- An option '-z9p' has been added to the beginner mode menu, where instead of the utility a layer .
