Release of Devuan 3 distribution, a Debian fork without systemd

Introduced release of Devuan 3.0 'Beowulf', the fork Debian GNU/Linux, delivered without the system manager systemd. The new branch is notable for its transition to a package base Debian 10 'Buster'. For downloading are prepared Live images and installation ISO images for AMD64, i386, and ARM (armel, armhf, and arm64). Devuan-specific packages can be downloaded from the repository packages.devuan.org.

The project has created branches for about 400 Debian packages, modified to eliminate dependencies on systemd, rebranding, or adaptation to the peculiarities of the Devuan infrastructure. Two packages (devuan-baseconf, jenkins-debian-glue-buildenv-devuan)
are present only in Devuan and are related to repository configuration and build system operations. Otherwise, Devuan is fully compatible with Debian and can be used as a base for creating specialized Debian builds without systemd.

The default desktop is based on Xfce and the Slim display manager. Optionally available for installation are KDE, MATE, Cinnamon, and LXQt. A classic initialization system SysVinitis provided instead of systemd. Optional is available a mode of operation without D-Bus, allowing for the creation of minimalist desktop configurations based on window managers such as blackbox, fluxbox, fvwm, fvwm-crystal, and openbox. For network configuration, a version of the NetworkManager configurator, not tied to systemd, is offered. Instead of systemd-udev, eudev, a fork of udev from the Gentoo project, is used. For managing user sessions in KDE, Cinnamon, and LXQt, elogind, a version of logind not tied to systemd, is offered. In Xfce and MATE, consolekit.

Changes, specific to Devuan 3.0:

• The transition to the Debian 10 'Buster' package base has been made (packages synchronized with Debian 10.4) and Linux kernel 4.19.
• Support for the ppc64el architecture has been added, in addition to the previously supported platforms i386, amd64, armel, armhf, and arm64.
• The option to use the system manager runit as an alternative to /sbin/init has been provided.
• The initialization system OpenRC has been made available as an alternative to the sysv-rc service and runlevel management tools.
• Separate background processes have been added eudev and elogind to replace the monolithic components of systemd responsible for managing device files in the /dev directory, handling external device connection/disconnection operations, and managing user sessions.
• A new display manager has been implemented, the boot interface has been redesigned, and a new desktop theme has been introduced.
