The release of the LibreELEC 11.0 project has been introduced, which develops a fork of the distribution for creating home theaters, OpenELEC. The user interface is based on the Kodi media center. Images are prepared for use with USB drives or SD cards (32- and 64-bit x86, Raspberry Pi 2/3/4, various devices on Rockchip, Allwinner, NXP, and Amlogic chips). The size of the build for the x86_64 architecture is 226 MB.
With LibreELEC, you can turn any computer into a media center, operating it as easily as a DVD player or a set-top box. The main principle of the distribution is 'everything just works'; to obtain a fully operational environment, simply load LibreELEC from a flash drive. Users do not need to worry about keeping the system up to date — the distribution uses an automatic download and installation system for updates, activated when connected to the global network. There is an option to expand the functionality of the distribution through an extension system installed from a separate repository developed by the project creators.
The distribution does not rely on the package base of other distributions and is based on its own developments. In addition to the standard features of Kodi, the distribution provides a number of additional functions aimed at simplifying operations. For example, a special configuration add-on is being developed to set up network connection parameters, manage LCD screen settings, and enable or disable automatic updates. Other features include the ability to use a remote control (can be managed via both infrared and Bluetooth), and to organize file sharing (with built-in Samba), as well as a built-in BitTorrent client, Transmission, and automatic search and connection for local and external drives. server Updated packages for the kernel and graphics drivers.
In the new release:
- The bundled media center Kodi has been updated to version 20.0.
