The EasyNAS 1.0 distribution has been released, designed for deploying network storage (NAS, Network-Attached Storage) in small businesses and home networks. The project has been in development since 2013, built on the openSUSE package base and utilizes the Btrfs file system with the ability to expand storage size without downtime and create snapshots. The size of the bootable ISO image (x86_64) is 380MB. Release 1.0 is notable for its transition to the openSUSE 15.3 package base.
Among the declared capabilities:
- Adding/removing Btrfs partitions and file systems, mounting file systems, file system checks, on-the-fly file system compression, attaching additional storage to the file system, file system rebalancing, SSD optimization.
- Support for JBOD and RAID 0/1/5/6/10 disk array topologies.
- Access to storage via network protocols CIFS (Samba), NFS, FTP, TFTP, SSH, RSYNC, AFP.
- Support for centralized management of authentication, authorization, and accounting using the RADIUS protocol.
