The release of TrueNAS CORE 13.0-U3 has been announced, a distribution for the rapid deployment of network storage (NAS, Network-Attached Storage), continuing the development of the FreeNAS project. TrueNAS CORE 13 is based on the FreeBSD 13 codebase, features integrated ZFS support and can be managed via a web interface built using the Python framework Django. Access to the storage is supported via FTP, NFS, Samba, AFP, rsync, and iSCSI. To enhance storage reliability, software RAID (0,1,5) can be employed, and client authentication is supported via LDAP/Active Directory. The size of the ISO image is 990MB (x86_64). Concurrently, the TrueNAS SCALE distribution, which uses Linux instead of FreeBSD, is also under development.
