Release of Easy Buster 2.2 distribution developed by the author of Puppy Linux

Barry Kauler, the founder of the Puppy Linux project, presented an experimental distribution Easy Buster 2.2, which attempts to use container isolation together with Puppy Linux technologies. The distribution offers the Easy Containers mechanism to run applications or the entire desktop in an isolated container. The release of Easy Buster is based on Debian 10 package base. Management of the distribution is done through a set of graphical configurators developed by the project. The size of the boot image is 514MB.

The distribution is also notable for operating by default with root privileges, as it is positioned as a Live system for a single user (optionally, there is the possibility of working under an unprivileged user 'spot'), installing into a single directory, atomic upgrading of the distribution (switching the active directory with the system) and support for rollback of updates. The base package includes applications such as SeaMonkey, LibreOffice, Inkscape, Gimp, Planner, Grisbi, Osmo, Notecase, Audacious, and MPV.

In Easy Buster 2.2 the synchronization with Debian 10.2 package base has been carried out, utilizing the Linux kernel 5.4.6 with the inclusion of the lockdown option to restrict root access to core internals while operating in session copy mode in RAM. New applications pSynclient and SolveSpace are included. A modified version of the NetworkManager applet has been utilized. Simultaneously has been prepared for Easy Pyro 1.3 , built, from the source code of the OpenEmbedded packages using the WoofQ toolkit. The main differences for the user are that Easy Pyro is more compact and lightweight ( with the help of 438 MB), while Easy Buster allows installation of any packages from the Debian 10 repository.Barry Kauler presented an experimental distribution.
