The release of the OpenWrt 24.10.1 distribution has been announced, developed for networking devices such as routers, switches, and access points. OpenWrt supports 2779 devices and offers a build system that simplifies cross-compilation and the creation of custom builds. Such builds allow for the formation of ready-made firmware with a desired set of pre-installed packages, optimized for specific tasks. Ready-made builds have been published for 39 target platforms.

- In the Linux kernel, the CONFIG_PCPU_DEV_REFCNT setting is enabled by default, and the naming of cdc-ethernet devices has been changed to "usb%d".
