Oracle has released the Oracle Linux 8.10 distribution, built on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.10 package base. Installation ISO images of 14 GB and 1 GB are available for unrestricted downloads, prepared for x86_64 and ARM64 (aarch64) architectures. Oracle Linux provides unlimited free access to the yum repository with binary package updates addressing bugs (errata) and security issues. Additionally, supported Application Stream modules are available for download.
In addition to the kernel package from RHEL (based on kernel 4.18), Oracle Linux offers its own Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 7 Update 2, based on Linux kernel 5.15 and optimized for use with Oracle's enterprise software and hardware. The source code for the kernel, including patches, is available in Oracle's public Git repository. The Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel is installed by default, positioned as an alternative to the standard RHEL kernel package, providing a range of advanced features such as DTrace integration and enhanced Btrfs support.
Aside from the inclusion of the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel R7, the functionality of the Oracle Linux 8.10 and RHEL 8.10 releases is entirely identical (the change log for Oracle Linux 8.10 mirrors the change log for RHEL 8.10).
