Oracle has released the distribution of Oracle Linux 9.3, based on the package base of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.3 and fully binary compatible with it. Unrestricted installation ISO images are available for download, sized at 10 GB and 900 MB, prepared for x86_64 and ARM64 (aarch64) architectures. For Oracle Linux 9, unlimited and free access to the yum repository with binary package updates that address bugs (errata) and security issues is provided. Additionally, separately maintained repositories with Application Stream and CodeReady Builder packages are prepared for download.
In addition to the kernel package from RHEL (based on kernel 5.14), Oracle Linux offers its own Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 7 Update 2, based on the Linux 5.15 kernel and optimized for working with Oracle's enterprise software and hardware. The source code of the kernel, including separate patches, is available in Oracle's public Git repository. The Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel is installed by default, positioned as an alternative to the standard RHEL kernel package, and provides a range of extended features, such as DTrace integration and improved Btrfs support. Besides the additional kernel functionalities, Oracle Linux 9.3 and RHEL 9.3 releases are fully identical (the list of changes can be viewed in the RHEL 9.3 announcement).
